come up with. Eventually I have grown accustomed to delivering speeches spontaneously

speaking skills in delivering spontaneous speeches?
The hardest part about preparing a draft for a spontaneous speech is to realise that using the
draft as crutches will not cut it. Being comfortable and confident with your own mind to think and Competition 2024
process thoughts clearly is the key to speaking coherently. As for the delivery, it is best to show
confidence in every word you say and to keep the energy of the session going, even when you
feel nervous. Achieving these aspects can be done through rigorous training. It is boring to do By Chee Jia Xian
something repetitively, so many people do not wish to put in such effort. However, practice makes
perfect and doing it can really give you a head start.

If your speech were turned into a movie, who would you cast to play yourself and why?
I would cast Liam Neeson, solely because of how superb his ability to convey emotional turmoil
is. The movie that solidified him as a great performer has got to be Schindler's List. There is just
something about the way he plays his character where he bottles up all his emotions, puts up an
act and never lets the people around him see how he truly feels. Then, he eventually breaks down
at the end of the movie after going through such an emotional rollercoaster. This experience of
his really resonates with how I deal with my emotions when I am speaking. It is about projecting
confidence despite feeling nervous or scared on stage; then dealing with the anxiety within me in
                the aftermath of the performance.
