If you could go back If I could turn back time, I would beg my parents to include my grandfather on our
to some time and place vacation trips. My father always felt that my grandfather was too much of an inconvenience,
so he never made the effort to bring him along. However, I would want to see my grandfather
visiting different countries, exploring various cultures and famous spots around the world. At
in your life, when and least he could take these happy and memorable moments with him to the afterlife.
where would you go? When I was nine, I never fully understood the meaning of death and the loss of
Why? a family member, so I would definitely turn back to the year 2018 and my grandfather’s
last few months, creating new and happy memories so that he could look back on these
memories and smile, even in his death.
Use specific reasons and details to support your choice.
A lot of people regret past decisions and choices they made like “ I should have
studied earlier…” or “ I should not have stolen this…” and wishing that they could turn back
in time to change and alter their choices, but for me, I will go back to the year 2018.
I was around nine years old at that time, and you may wonder, why 2018? Well, 2018
was a year before my paternal grandfather passed away from lung cancer. My grandfather
was a rather frail and skinny old man, he would walk to the market every Sunday to buy my
cousins and me our favourite snack, yam cake. He would sit in the living room of our old
house and watch those nostalgic Chinese shows.
I was never close with my grandfather throughout our time of living together. I was
always cooped up in my room playing video games while he was watching television or
reading the newspaper, so we barely interacted. Therefore, if I could turn back time, I
would watch those boring shows or chat with him over tea, if it means that I could see
him one last time. I never noticed that he would cook himself those cheap and unhealthy
cup noodles while cooking us the healthiest meals like one of my favourites, fried egg with
spring onions. That was one of his signature dishes, so if I could go back in time, I would
ask my grandfather to teach me how to cook it. Instead of him cooking for us, I would cook
it for him.
