-A minimum of 12 years of formal education with good passes in a national/international examination that is recognised for the purpose of admission. Applicants taking their respective high school examinations between January and May 2021 must submit/upload online their actual results within 3 working days after the release of the results. If your high school results are not known by the application closing date, please submit your predicted high school scores as attested by your school teacher/counsellor by 31 March 2021. -One of the following standardised test score is required : SAT (previously known as SAT I /SAT Reasoning), or ACT (American College Test), or IELTS** (Academic Test), or TOEFL**, or C1 Advanced
-Interview for shortlisted applicants. Shortlisted Law/ Computing & Law shortlisted applicants must also take a writing test. Interviews and writing tests for shortlisted Law / Computing & Law applicants are conducted in end-March to April. SAT (before March 2016) : A minimum total score of 1,900 with a combined minimum score of 1,400 for critical reading and writing
SAT (from March 2016) : A minimum total score of 1,350 with at least 700 for evidence-based reading and writing. Essay is not required
ACT (before September 2016) : A minimum composite score of 29 and a writing score of at least 32
ACT (from September 2016) : A minimum composite score of 29, with a minimum English + Reading score of 64. Essay is not required
IELTS : A minimum overall score of 7.5 with at least 7.0 for reading and 7.0 for writing
TOEFL iBT (internet-based test) : A minimum score of 100, with at least 24 for reading and 24 for writing
TOEFL PBT (paper-based test) : A minimum score of 600, with at least 5.5 for TWE (Test of Written English) and 50 for reading
C1 Advanced (with effect from 2020 admissions) : A minimum overall score of 191, with at least 185 for reading and 185 for writing
The minimum test scores indicated above for law and non-law applicants will be minimally sufficient for applicants to make a competitive application. Meeting these requirements does not guarantee an admission into SMU, as admission is on a highly competitive and selective basis.
